The WC had a claw foot tub fit for any mermaid. Room service was tasty and delivered by well appointed bell hops and maids. Take time to read the rooms hand book that tells you who all the people were that the rooms are named for.
Getting around the city of London was made easy by the location of public transportation. The staff were warm and hospitable as well as informed about the various places to visit. The rescue cat, Baggiera, owns the place. The staff were very accommodating and friendly. The rooms were comfortable and clean. The hotel is so close to the train, we were able to wander all over London and back easily. The tea service was wonderful. Loved the big tub to soak in after walking all day!
It is my favorite hotel in London. The staff is tops, world class, with every need met. I have stayed at many other London hotels including the Savoy and the Rookery is the best for my taste and a very good value for London. I have other favorites in other cities around the world. The Rookery is at or near the top of the list, always. Every piece of the furniture and facilities was just as much alike as I can imagine. Staff were wonderful and accommodating - they had a room ready for me at 7am the day I arrived in town.
The breakfast is incredible - Bacon Sandwich! The room was very comfortable, clean, and quiet. Plenty of lovely common areas to do work or take breakfast.
If you are looking for tradition - book the Rookery or one of their sister Hotels. Lovely comfortable rooms, great service and food. The old building is extremely neat and a fun part of the stay. The staff was so friendly and helpful. We were only here for two nights on our trip, but our stay was a lot of fun. Definitely recommend this hotel if you want to experience a "historical" feel with modern amenities! The rooms are completely clean and the staff very courteous and helpful. Breakfast was prepared with fresh and high quality ptoducts.
In all, there was not even a single thing that didn't meet my expectation. The service at The Rookery is a good example for other hotels to follow. Authentic, old-world charm, with attention to detail. Comfortable and cosy street. Close to railway station. Good quality of linen. No shower option which this time was fine but if dealing with early morning meetings a bit to much fuss using a bath.

The Rookery in London - Room Deals, Photos & Reviews
A few seconds from tube. An interesting, historical area. Nice to walk around. Lots of choice, all sorts of restaurants. Five minutes walk from Barbican, visit cafe in conservatory, lovely estate. A picnic would be nice there. Very safe. Room was nice, bed was comfy. I thought we were going to have a bath and 4 poster bed. It was meant to be a special night away, so a little disappointed. I was a bit mislead by the photos on line and didn't check before hand. Room still gorgeous just not what I was expecting.
I loved the peace and quiet and the decor is beautiful. The staff were friendly and very helpful. I would recommend to others. The decor and the quiet atmosphere made this special. Even though the room was quiet and of a good size and the bathroom comfortable according to the period of the hotel, the bed was a very small double and not very comfortable. The character of the hotel was beautiful, the library and ambience of the surroundings were wonderful. The staff were very helpful and very welcoming. Cleanliness of the room excellent.
I wish there was a restaurant on the first floor so that one could enjoyed the rest of this elegant building or experience a high tea in one of the various sitting rooms. I regret that we didn't have more time and money to stay longer. Gracious, old world hotel set in a very quite historical district of London. Couldn't fault anything! Nothing could have been better. My favourite hotel in London by far. Most hotels are horrible soulless places with polycotton sheets and windows that don't open.
This one is the opposite - like a stately home away from home. Just completely perfect - elegant, antique-filled, beautiful, and there's even a hotel cat. Please can I move in? Location, decor, property. The staff where super helpful with my room move and helping with bags, they are very kind. The hotel is absolutely immaculate. Bagheera, the magical black cat is there to welcome you. Average facilities and expensive.
Quaint charm. It is not really a 4 star hotel, it has no elevator , my first room had the bathroom and the shower one floor down The breakfast was nicely arranged but the quality of the bread basket was really poor The staff was very nice and tried to help!
